The hollyhocks (Alcea) is a genus of plants in the mallow family (Malvaceae).
Description
Vegetative characteristics
In Alcea species are upright, one-, two-year or short-lived perennial, herbaceous plants. The vegetative parts of plants with stellate hairs (trichomes) are covered, sometimes also with long simple hairs. In the first year they only form a basal rosette of leaves. Generative characteristics
