The proclamation of the independence of Indonesia, Indonesian Proklamasi Kemerdekaan Indonesia, was read at 10 am, Friday, August 17, 1945. The statement marked the beginning of a diplomatic struggle and armed conflict with the Netherlands, the colonizing country, which in 1949 recognized the independence of Indonesia and the Indonesians call it old. It was signed by Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta. The draft was prepared on the night of August 16, 1945.

PROKLAMASI

Kami Bangsa Indonesia, dengan ini menjatakan kemerdekaan Indonesia.

Hal-hal jang Mengen pemindahan kekoeasaan dll, dengan diselenggarakan Tjara saksama dan Dalam tempo jang-sesingkat singkatnja.
